What is PPWR?

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is the new EU-wide framework governing packaging and packaging waste.

PPWR has applied across the European Union since 12 August 2026.

It introduces requirements covering packaging placed on the EU market, including sustainability, conformity, labelling, producer responsibility, registration and reporting.

Businesses involved in manufacturing, importing, distributing or placing packaged products on the EU market should determine which requirements apply to their activities.
